October 4
BELLA BULGARIA Holding received on an official ceremony within the Autumnal Plovdiv international fair a certificate for achieved standard for food safety. The certifying association management TUF NORD handed over the certificate to Mrs. Elza Markova – Executive Director of the holding. The ceremony was held on September 27th 2007, hall №11 in the Plovdiv fair.
BELLA BULGARIA SA is the owner of the two of the five European certificates for food safety issued by Tuf Nord Group. The big trade chains in the country and in the European Union require a food safety standard IFS implementation by all the food product suppliers. BELLA BULGARIA defended the IFS standard 2 years earlier and was the first in the sector of meat processing , this year it achieved the highest percentage of the requirements - 98%. The rest 3 Bulgarian companies cover 92,5% from the IFS requirements. This is the first time such a big standard covering of the requirements for food safety standards has been achieved in BULGARIA.
The audit carried out by the TUF NORD specialists included 2 of the meat processing factories of the holding – “Proslav” and “Perelick”- producing the brands Sachi, LEKI, Perelick. In the closing report was given a high assessment to the production management, hygiene, traceability, safety and professionalism of the team. Currently BELLA is the only Bulgarian meat products producer, whose productions are certified under the international food standard /IFS/ according to the requirements of METRO and BILLA and the rest of the big trade chains. The deadline for the producers to certify their systems under IFS expires at the end of 2008.
To guarantee quality assurance of its products BELLA BULGARIA holding works with the cutting edge technologies acknowledged in the EU,. НАССР traces each of the production stages. The factories for production of frankfurters and non-durable sausages under the BELLA brand have the one of its kind express laboratory in Bulgaria – MICRO FOSS 32, giving a content analysis up to 7 hours. The 5 factories of the holding are certified under ISO 9001:2000, which clearly shows BELLA’s ambition to be a leading company in quality management and food safety.
The implementation of these safety standards requires a solid financing. Investment is required for improvement of the working environment (refurbishment of the machine park, machines and equipment, filters, air sterility, working clothes, improving the methods of analysis etc.), staff training and qualification. There is a necessity of reinforced monitoring of the critical control points. Certification needs financial means. Appointing consultants during the period of implementation is not obligatory but preferable. The certificate owning for implementing these standards is a token of a better inside order in the company producer and provides for products safety. This is an international standard for the system requirements for food safety, which should be taken into consideration by the governments of the countries from EU.
